l A's shortstop Jack Wallaesa committed three errors in a 5-1 loss to Detroit.

l Red Sox hurler Joe Dobson fanned 10 in a rain-shortened 11-0 win over St. Louis that went 7 1/3 innings. The win extended Boston's winning streak to five games.

l Tigers hurler Dizzy Trout improved his record to 6-0 with a 9-7 win over the White Sox.

l A's shortstop Pete Suder extended his hitting streak to 13 games in a 5-4 loss to New York.

May 31 ...

l The Chicago White Sox collected 23 hits in handing the Wahington Senators their 9th straight loss, 15-6. Senators starter Sid Hudson got hammered for 10 earned runs in 2 1/3 innings of work.

l The New York Giants won their ninth straight with a 7-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.

May 9 ...
l Giants first baseman Johnny Mize went hitless against Johhny Vander Meer and the Reds, snapping a 17-game hitting streak. 
l St. Louis starter Max Lanier walked nine but the Cardinals hammered out 21 hits in a 21-5 shellacking of Pittsburgh. Whitey Kurowski homered twice and drove in five runs in the Cards win. 

May 15 ...
l The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Giants combined for 33 hits as New York downed the Pirates, 15-11 Pirates starter Rip Sewell allowed 21 hits and 10 earned runs in 8 2/3 innings.

May 16 ...
l The Pittsburgh Pirates suffered their 10th straight loss, bowing to Brooklyn, 7-3.

May 17 ...
l St. Louis outfielder Enos Slaughter went 5 for 5, with two triples and an RBI, in the Cardinals' 5-4 loss to the Reds.

May 20 ...
l Dodgers lefthander Kirby Higbe fanned 12 while shutting out Philadelphia, 3-0.

May 29 ...
l Reds catcher Ray Lamanno drove in seven runs with four hits, including a home run, in a 24-hit barrage that routed the Philadelphia Phillies, 18-3, in the first game of a twin bill at Shibe Park.
l Chicago Cubs hurler Hi Bithorn (1-8) dropped his eighth straight decision, a 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
l The New York Giants turned a triple play in a 7-1 win over the Braves in the second game of a doubleheader in Boston. In the opener, Boston homered four times off of Giants starter Carl Hubbell but came up short, 7-5.  

May 30 ...
l New York Giants slugger Mel Ott extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a pair of hits, one of them a home run, in an 8-7 win over Chicago. 

May 31 ...
l Dodgers southpaw Kirby Higbe improved his record to 9-0 with a 5-2 win over Philadelphia.
