ABOUT THIS SITE... This site highlights one of my favorite pastimes, statistical-based sports "replays." Using statistical-based, sports computer simulations such as Out of the Park Baseball, Title Bout II Boxing, and Second and Ten Football I can recreate sports history and create and "view" some of the what-if scenarios and dream matchups I've often wondered about. -- Ron Kelly

MLB: Monster Historical Team Tournament

This "monster" tournament features 256 of the winningest teams in major league baseball from 1901 to the present. I'm using the Out of the Park Baseball computer simulation to play out the tournament, which consists of 16 brackets of 16 teams each. The winner of each bracket will compete in a final 16-team championship event.

GROUP I BRACKET: 1976 Cincinnati Reds, the "Big Red Machine," finished atop the Group I bracket and is the first team to earn a spot in the eventual 16-team championship event.

GROUP II BRACKET: 1920 Cleveland Indians finished atop the Group II bracket and advance to the final 16-tteam championship event.

GROUP III BRACKET: 1993 Atlanta Braves defeated 1975 Cincinnati Reds in the final round to advance to the final 16-team championship event.

GROUP IV BRACKET: 1911 Philadelphia Athletics punched their ticket to the championship round with 4-game sweep of 1986 New York Mets.

GROUP V BRACKET: 1956 New York Yankees eliminated 1919 Chicago White Sox in six games.

GROUP VI BRACKET: 1998 Atlanta Braves swept the 1939 Cincinnati Reds to advance to championship round.

GROUP VII BRACKET: 1943 New York Yankees defeated 1931 Philadelphia Athletics to advance to final 16.

Boxing: Light Heavyweight Tournament

This double elimination tournament features some of the all-time great light heavyweights, an unheralded and often overlooked weight division. It's being played out using the new Title Bout II boxing simulation and includes many of the division's greats, from the early days to the current era, including Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, Bob Foster, Gene Tunney, Michael Spinks, Roy Jones Jr., Joey Maxim, and more. The field has been cut to 64 after a preliminary round of elimination bouts. You can view the tournament rules here.

TOURNAMENT UPDATE: Opening round matchups now posted on the tournament page.

1932: A Landmark NFL Season

To satisfy my historical interest, I've decided to re-create and replay one of the NFL's early seasons (1932) using Second and Ten, the pro and college football simulation by Roogames.

In a replay of that landmark 1932 season, the Chicago Bears, with a record of 10 wins and 4 losses (.714), won the title outright, without the need for a playoff, as occurred in 1932 when the Bears and Portsmouth Spartans tied for 1st place. Click the link below to see notes about that season and a summary of the replay results.

Professional Bowlers Association Tour - 1978

This re-creation and "replay" of the 1978 Professional Bowlers Association Tour is being conducted using the In The Pocket bowling computer simulation. The 1978 PBA tour featured some of the most heralded names in PBA history, including Earl Anthony, Mark Roth, Dick Weber and Don Johnson, to name but a few. First stop on the tour is the Miller Lite Classic from Gable House Bowl, in Torrance, Calif.
